A ‘Gummy Smile’ is a condition of a person’s teeth that appear abnormally small when smiling. If you have a gummy smile, treatment is determined according to theappearance of the gums and periodontal condition of the teeth (gingival health and bone support). The treatment options include lifting and modifying the gums to the extent permitted by tissues and/or surgical lip repositioning. Both of the procedures are minor surgical interventions, performed under local anaesthesia and are of about 30-40 minutes in duration. Botox has also been commonly used for treatment of the ‘Gummy Smile’condition in recent years.
